Kindness

Hello Paige Academy parents,

Dalai Lama: “Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.” Here is more on kindness that we can demonstrate and practice with our children. Kindness is a social responsibility! Kindness matters- Teaching kindness is as important as teaching math, science, and reading.

Seize the opportunity to teach children about kindness and to teach children how to treat others with kindness.  Here are 7 strategies to teach children: 1. Read books and age appropriate literature on kindness to your child. 2. Build on previous understanding of kindness. 3. Kindness role playing with your child to help remove doubts. 4. Give them goals- 3 acts of kindness per week (or maybe more). 5. Opportunities to show kindness in unexpected ways (giving compliments and being thankful)   6. Motivation and rewards to keep up the good work. 7. Keep a record of all activities and good will demos :) Reading resource: "Have you filled your bucket today?" Author: Carol McCloud -- "Children are not the only ones that need to learn how to be truly happy. It's all in the bucket, that invisible bucket that follows you everywhere. . . teaches young readers valuable lessons about giving, sharing, and caring. This guide to daily happiness, though, is not just for kids. We all need reminders of the benefits of positive thinking and positive behavior. It's an important lesson to teach and remind us all . . . that showing kindness and appreciation of others goes a long way to making this world a happier place for everyone, including ourselves."
